The Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) has released the Fact Sheet and Infographic Booklet of the National Health and Morbidity Survey 2019 (NHMS 2019) coordinated by the Institute for Public Health (IPH), together with the Institute for Health Systems Research (IHSR) and the Institute for Health Behavioural Research (IHBR).
This survey aims to provide the country with key health indicators as well as information on the healthcare needs of the population.
The NHMS 2019 is currently is in its sixth cycle, and consists three modules: Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD), Healthcare Demand (HCD) and Health Literacy.
This year, the Sarawak Rural Health survey will also be incorporated into the NHMS to provide vital data on the health status of communities living in rural Sarawak.
The survey fieldwork took place from April to September 2019. Information was collected by means of face-to-face interviews with eligible adults and children who live in 12,000 randomly selected households across the country, covering approximately 30,000 respondents.
