a) Ordinary Members
Membership is open to all Health Professionals whose roles require that they spend a significant part of their time providing diabetes education to people with diabetes and their carers.
b) Life members;
Membership is open to all ordinary members.
c) Commercial members:
Membership is open to any firm, commercial or industrial organization.
d) Honorary Members:
Distinguished persons who have rendered notable service to the Society or to the understanding of diabetes especially with respect to diabetes care and education may on the recommendation of the Executive Committee be elected Honorary Members by majority vote at an Annual General Meeting.
e) Associate Members:
Open to other health professionals but with no voting rights.
Application for membership except Honorary, shall be made in writing to the Honorary Secretary who shall submit it to the Executive Committee for approval. The Executive Committee may at its discretion reject any application without assigning any reason thereof.
A member whose subscription is in arrears for one (1) calendar year and has been notified of the fact by A.R. registered post and has not paid up within two (2) calendar months of the posting of such notice shall be deemed to have defaulted and shall cease to be a member.
The Honorary Secretary shall keep a register of all members of the Society
The Privileges of Members:
Member shall be entitled to enjoy the following privileges of members subject to payment in full of all subscriptions due and payable by members: –
1. To attend the Society’s meetings
2. To participate in all such activities as may from time to time be organised by the Society
3. To receive publications of the Society
4. The right to vote and to hold office: –
a) Ordinary Members and Life Members have the right to vote and to hold office.
b) Each Commercial Member shall be entitled to two (2) representatives, but do not have the right to hold office
c) Honorary Members do have the right to vote, but they cannot hold office
